HELP! Extreme dry skin ears/face/neck - pics & full syptom & medical history

Hi

Background; always had Dandruff & spots on scalp which I managed to control using a Tar based shampoo, but 3 years ago had dry skin appearing on the ear lobe, got worse and spread around the year. Would crack and weep on the lobe and behind ears. Went to the doctor who were dismissive and advised keep moisturised. Along with the ears had a dry patch under which came and went, and around the nose.

1 year on, Spread around the back of neck behind ears, a new doctor said generic dermatitis and keep moisturised. Now I have dry scaly skin all around neck, patches on cheek and all over ears, Slow hair growth where it is and discolouration so looks horrible. When I wake up all areas are covered in white powdery skin, when wash it off the skin is red and scaly,  afew hours later dry and flaky again, extremely uncomfortable. Throughout used E45 which is a common cream for dry skin in the UK, teried numerous other but woukd sting and not do much so went back to e45. Use a allergy tested shaving foam and face & body wash and deodrant etc, Still spreading and now have a small patch on forehead.

Went to a skin doctor a month ago and he took a blood test and advised no infections as white cell counts normal, He prescribed Elocon , a steriod based cream which CLEARED to perfect condition in 5 days (3 times a day thin layer), but a few days after stopped back to normal :-(

I seem to have dermatitis, sebhorric and rosecea and god knows what else based on what ive read online so still without a clue of how to proceed and control this after seeing a fer different doctors!!

Many Thanks

You might also look into the underlying causes of your issue along with treating the rash topically with the oils and lotions. Have you been checked to verify that you don't have an underlying fungal infection like Candidiasis? I've heard that this causes a lot of these types of problems for people and is a lot more common than most people realize. It might be worth taking a look at these links so that you can at least rule it out.

I deal with the same stuff. Click on this article. It'll help better than anything else.
I also use Coyote Cove Farm oil that is called Antiwrinke oil. It has a bunch of essential oils that help so much more than all the expensive lotions. I've tried it all. I just happen to come across Coyote Cove oil by chance and tried it desperate to find something to help my skin. Mine is on my scalp, face and neck.
I've never tried any of Coyote Cove Farm's other products. I'm sure they're good.
Along with all the advice in the link above and the oil from Coyote Cove, my skin has improved greatly.
I hope you  get better.
God bless!
PS Oh, here is the link for Coyote Cove. http://www.coyotecove.com/

Jen- many thanks, currenly out of country on business but will try Gloves in a bottle.

Nizoral creme didnt work for me which was a shame as read some good reports online, moved away from E45 to Clinique's 'deep comfort body moisture' as its tested for allergies- its ok and recommended-  better moisturiser than most but only for a few hours.

Went back to the dermatologist today and he is at a loss for answers depsite years of experience- prescribed Protopic twice a day for a month and also going in next week for patch tests to see if allergic to anything.

Shame im moving back to the UK in Dec as he is the best person and most purposeful medic ive met so far.

have extremely dry skin too! Like you I have used e45 for years. Apparently your skin can become addicted to these types of cream, so I started to try out sheilding lotions. "Skin md natural" didnt do much for me but "Gloves in a bottle" seems to be making a difference gradually. They both have web sites where they explain how there product works. Might not be a cure but certainly worth a try. Let me know how you get on!

Update:

Went to a dermatologist who believes it is seborrheic eczema. Advised me to use 1 week of Elocon cream once a day and then Nizoral cream on half of face so could see the diifference.

Sod did this, needed to used Elecon twice a day first few days and cleared fully, then started the Nizoral half and after 5 days back to where I was :-(  both sides same so Nizoral didn't maake any difference...

Hi,

Hyperpigmentation Removal treatments are used to eradicate darkened areas of the skin which may result from hormones, sun damage, injuries, skin-type characteristics, medications and more.  Hyperpigmentation lesions can be anything from melasma/cholasma often attributed to pregnancy or hormonal imbalances to freckles.

The treatments vary from melanin blocking agents combined with topical medications such as Retin A which causes the body to exfoliate the skin to rid the body of the hyperpigmentation while prohibiting new melanin production to laser treatments.  The treatments wholly depend upon your needs and skin type.

For standard non-hormone induced hyperpigmentations Hydroquinone usually reduces or removes hyperpigmentations very effectively. It is a bleaching agent. Also always use sunscreen/sunblock as dark areas on exposure to sunlight turn darker still. For some patients with severe hyperpigmentation, surgical and cosmetic intervention may help.

Wearing sunscreen and avoiding the use of abrasive cleansers and cosmetics for the face may help. Get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet everyday.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.
