Herpes or not

yoz
So around december 27th I had protected sex with a girl on a sports trip. Then when I returned to school on January 15, I shaved my pubic area and the next day I had a red bump above my penis to the left close to where the thigh and groin meet but more to the center. It never blistered, cratered and scabbed, and no clear fluid came from it. It hurt to touch but was not painful otherwise. Then after about a week it disappeared but ocassionally I could still feel it under the skin area.

It was gone for about 4 months until I shaved again in that region on April 17 and then that friday morning I noticed it again in the shower. It was about the same size and was red again and sensitive to touch but otherwise I didn't notice it unless I was thinking about it. It hasn't broken the skin and looked to have a small white head in the center and today while I was showering when I got out, blood was slowly leaking from it as though it would a pimple on my face.

Ive been checking symptoms of herpes for about a week now and I don't have any trouble peeing and its not blistered or scabbed over with no clear fluid and no flu like symptoms but a lot of the websites make it sound like these symptoms do not need to appear for it to be herpes so I was just wondering in your opinion your feelings about my little issue. Thanks

Doesn't sound like herpes; it's seldom found where you're describing. Folliculitis (basically, pimples) are common in that area, especially when shaving. If you're concerned, have a dermatologist look at it, but I very seriously doubt it is herpes.

Hi,

This appears to be a boil due to the shaving procedure that you undertook. It is important to understand that this is not a diagnosis and a visit to the doctor is required to get a complete evaluation and treatment.

If it is actually a boil, then it may need a course of antibiotics and some toipcal application. This may be prescribed to you by your doctor.

Meanwhile, keep the area clean and try not to wear clothing which may interject this area. Also avoid shaving the area.

Hope this may have helped you. Let us know if you may need any more information.

Bet regards
