Hidradenitis suppurativa and coexisting conditions?

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with HS about two years ago. It started as a few small pimples on my thighs and then under my armpits that eventually turned into nasty, inflamed, infected boils. This went on and off for a few months. My dermatologist injected corisone directly into the boils/bumps and put me on doxycycline, then oracea for about six months total. I've had no recurrences since then, so I sometimes wonder if I actually had HS or if maybe it was a MRSA infection (I was substitute teaching in the NYC public schools during the whole MRSA scare at the time).

So here's my question: I've heard that HS can co-exist or sometimes be a symptom of other autoimmune conditions, but I can never seem to find WHAT those other conditions are. Anybody know?

I'm curious because I have a few other odd conditions/symptoms that may or may not be related:
Recurring kidney stones (usually 2-3 times/year-----always calcium oxalate)
TMJ in my jaw and neck
Migraines w/occasional visual aura
Allergies (lifelong to commercial dust/dust mites/mold)---doubt this is related but thought I'd throw it in
And most recently occasional tinnitus and
darker eye floaters
I was also recently diagnosed with retinal lattice degeneration by a retinal specialist (he said it was mild)

My sis also suffers from tinnitus, TMJ and kidney stones. Also she has IBD and my mom has diverticulitis. Fortunately, I don't seem to have any gastrointestinal things going on (knock on wood).

Anyways, ANY ideas on coexisting autoimmune conditions would be GREATLY appreciated. I'd like some ideas if I go into my doctor and want to get tested. It just seems like something's going on here.

Thanks!

Thanks for the insight. Like I said, so far I haven't noticed any gastrointestinal issues, although they DO run in my family, and my mom's diverticulitis (if it IS that......she's never really had a definitive diagnosis) didn't start up until she was in her 50s/60s, and I'm only 33.

One other question: in your opinion, do you think that I really had HS? Obviously, you haven't examined me, but I always thought it was odd that  I never had any re-occurences after nearly 2 years. Is it equally possible that it was just a nasty infection like MRSA or cellulitis instead of HS? I was actually running a fever at the time.

I am well aware of the triad or tetrad Acne conglobata,HS,cellulits. Also that perianal crohns disease could be associated. That is the autoimmune association which you do not have, from history.
