How Long do Hematomas take to heal

Hi I got hit by a baseball about 4 weeks ago in the face (on the left cheekbone). The bruising has subsided but there is still a bump on the tip of my cheekbone about a 1/4 inch in length width and thickness. i went to the doctor yesterday and she said that it might take several months to subside but they usually do go away by themselves, especially hematomas this small. however, i am a little concerned, and she isnt a dermatologist. my question is do hematomas this size usually go away by themselves? if not, what should i do to help it go away?

How are you doing? Would you mind sharing your experience as it sounds just like what I am feeling in my leg from a fall two weeks ago.

Good afternoon Dr Kaur

I need your help.,
I have been giving myselft shots now for almost 6 years for my MS. A few weeks ago I gave one in my right buttock and developed what they call a Hematoma. I have been using Ibuprofen and sat on a heating bad and have also used ice. It seem to be getting worse i have been to the ER twice and they said its not infected it will just go away after a while., It still looks very bruised and painful where the hard lump is

Is there any advise you can give me to help with this?
should i find a Dermatologist?

Thanks again for your time
my email is ***@****

Dear Dr. Kaur, I had a car wreck in March & have a hematoma on my lower right leg below knee. Its not as red has faded some but is still there & still having pain from it & it also itches. After accident they checked to make sure there was no blood clot & it was fine. Is it normal to still be there & hurting? Should I have my dermatologist look at it or a different Dr?

Five weeks ago I fell (and did a literal face-plant) on my hardwood. I had a CT at the emergency room and there were no broken bones or internal bleeding. While a lot of the bruising has subsided, there is still a lump on my right cheek and a small amount of bruising. Should I be concerned and is there anything I should be doing?

Thank you - Judy

I hope you have completely recovered. I know this is an old post, but I am curious of your progress and healing. I had a similar accident 2 months ago and suffered 6 broken and displaced ribs, a fractured skull, concussion, and had a 10 cm hematoma on my left hip. Everything seems to be healing ok, but the hematoma does not seem to be improving. How did you eventually resolve those issues?

Hello Dr. Kaur and thank you for your help.

A couple of days ago I had heart stints put in through an artery in my groin area.  When the catheter was rem oved from the incision the nurse or PA, whomever removed it, must have done something to cause a hematoma.  In an effort to disperse the blood from the hematoma the blood went out of the hematoma and down into my groin area and privates.  It is black and deathly sore from my navel down through my privates area.  My penis is swollen 3 to 4 times the usual size making me very uncomfortable and I can barely urinate.  What can I do to help the situation myself and should I go see my Urologist?  I am also very concerned about what this might turn in to!!

I had a fall over a month ago - on my bum.  The bruising has gone away - but I have a hematoma the size of a dinner plate in diameter - and is about 5 inches high.

So painful.  I sit on a heating pad for 10-15 minutes very frequently.

I am so tired of this - how long can I expect to wait before it goes away?

I suffered a bad fall back in August of 2012. Most of the discoloration from the hematoma went away and skin texture is almost back to normal. However, the right knee which suffered the severe hematoma (my leg from right above the knee down to my toes had deep tissue bruising as well) has not totally gone away as well as where I suffered deep tissue bruising in the left leg. I've been told its not fluid, which I believe since they've been getting hard, but iron deposits that still remain from blood not getting totally reabsorbed.  I've been told it takes a long time for this to go away but may never do so.

I don't only want to know how much can be done to help facilitate its desolving, I do use hot packs, but how much longer will I continue to suffer pain, usually hot burning pain like hundreds of hot needles rushing into the area to feeling like someone is torching the site to complete sharp pain in the right knee and part of the leg as well? The swelling on the knee will also sometimes feel like its ready to burst as if it were an extremely bad, large pimple. Unfortunately a few weeks post the fall when the swelling was still quite bad on the knees, I was told not to have it punctured with a needle. I was told this by more than one doctor.

As I said, it's gotten hard instead of gelatoneous. Am I likely with it in this state to suffer with this pain and remaining swelling the rest of my life?

My son ran into a pole about 4 weeks ago. The bruising has resided slightly, but a small bump remains on his cheek and is a blackish bluish colour. He is 7 years old and I'm not keen to irritate by massaging or placing warm clothes on his face. How long does it really take to heal? Anyone can provide a timeline based on experience would be grateful. Thanks.

I fell off my horse and slammed into a steel pipe railing with the left side of my face and rib cage.  I have a softball sized hematoma in my left breast (extremely painful)! And another golf all sized hematoma on my left cheek.  I have 4 broken ribs (1 is displaced), and a burst fracture on the floor of my left eye socket( which I will most likely have surgery to repair.
Although the bruising is going away, the size of the hematomas has not diminished.  I have taken photos all along the way too monitor this process.
What can be done about the hematomas?  My business requires me to meet with attorneys and CEO's of companies.  I feel this injury will be devastating to my business and add to financial ruin.  What if they never go away?
