How to treat welts

For about the last 6 weeks I have been breaking out in bad welts. Sometimes it is really itchy to the point where I am in tears, sometimes I just get red bumps everywhere and on the odd occasion I get random thick white lines that are like a bump. My mum and I thought it was an allergic reaction, so I went off the food that we thought it was but it keeps happening. I have been writing down everything I eat and I cant see a relationship between what I eat and when I get welts. Does anyone know what this could be or how to treat it?? Or is it something else other then an allergic reaction?
