Hi
The IPL process uses ‘intense pulsed light’ to gently remove unwanted hair. This is a patented technology which has long lasting results. IPL treatments are usually safe, fast, gentle and effective alternative method for hair removal. Larger areas may be treated at one time. The FDA certifies it as for its efficacy and safety.
This is unique because it is relatively painless and unlike the laser hair removal process, IPL works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. IPL hair removal is reported to safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white.
There are differences between laser and IPL. In IPL the intense light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat. This heat loosens the hair and prevents further new hair growth. This affects the 30% of hair in the anagen or growing stage. It also minimizes the trauma to the skin.
However, this treatment should not be used in females who are pregnant as well as those who get epileptic fits. The safety of laser hair removal during pregnancy has not much been studied. Hence, many health care providers recommend avoiding laser hair removal during pregnancy due to the lack of information on its effect on the fetus.
A new Super Intense Pulsed Light (SIPL) treatment has also come up.
You should consult highly trained and experienced clinicians as to which method would prove more suitable and effective for you
Hope it helps.
