Itching and bumps

Ok so around 3 weeks ago I came down with a cold and at the time I wasn't registered to any doctor and and I had some Amoxycillin lyring around that was prescribed to me a around 10 months so I took some without knowing if it had expired or not. A few days after taking the medicine for 3 days I noticed some itching on the inside of my arms around the joint area, no burning or inflamation just a tingling itch. I also noticed the same itchyness on the outside corners of my eyes and at the middle of my neck in between my collar bones. A day after the itching appeared the outside corners of my eyes had become much darker, wrinkly, dry and flaky. Both eyes had the same problem. The Inside of my arms had also become red but not inflammed and if looked at closely, there were small redder dots. Anyway my eyes after a few days had reduced in darkness and the dryness has gone away but even now theres a slight hint of wrinkles and discolour but not as bad. As for my arm jointsm, the redness has pretty much gone but what I did notice after the redness and itchyness had gone was small dots of dry skin peeling around where the red rash was but again after a few days that has also reduced and pretty much gone.

Now just a couple of days ago I started to feel some chaffing on the base of my neck on the left side, after making an inspection I notced larger than normal goosebumps surronding a couple of red spots, there was also a dark discolour around the small patch. This patch of bumps is just larger than an inch in diameter, There was an initial itchyness but after that nothing. No redness, just the darker tint in skin around the area. Over the space of the last 2 days, the bumps have reduced and it seems to be clearing.

Ok so, I have pretty much no idea as to why any of these rashes came about, at first I was worried about possible STDs than I was worried it may have been the possibly expired medicine(or maybe i took to strong of a dosage). As for the bumps on my neck my initial thought was a insect bite of some kind due to their being to red bumps which than lead to a reaction but they didnt seem to have any bite hole at the centre. I don't even know if these rash/bumps are linked to one another. Ive shown no other symptoms since the cold, I feel pretty good except for slight anxiety. I have a doctors appointment booked now but not till thursday but by then the rashes and bumps will have pretty much gone so it'll be difficult for him to get any idea as to what it was that caused the problem.

Anyway just thought Id throw the situation on to the forum to get any ideas until I see my doctor. could the medicine have caused the rash? any of this sound std related?

Heres's a pic of the bumps after in had reduced a little http://i26.tinypic.com/21ec4f9.jpg

Should the fact that the rash came about so long after my last sexual activity rule out any potential STD?

thanks for the reply Vanessa, I havent actually scratched that area at all, mainly because it doesn't feel itchy or anything at all, well it did initially when I noticed it but that was just for around 1 hour.

The Rash occured atleast 3-4 days after the taking of medication and its a medication ive taken many times before with no reaction like this.

As for my worries of an STD, my last sexual contact was receptive oral and 1-2 mins of giving oral to another male. This was around 3 months before the rash had appeared.

Hi,

I saw the image and it seems that you have been scratching the area as it appears a little red and darker than the surrounding areas. Is this correct?

As the rash appeared a day after taking the medications, then I would think that the rash may be an adverse reaction to the medication. It may be an allergic reaction. I suggest that you have a prompt consult with your physician. You may need antihistamines to alleviate the rash.

Have you taken any medications?

Also, you are worried if this is secondary to an underlying STD? Any significant part of your history that  suggests such?

A blood test, urinalysis and a complete physical examination is needed to rule this out as well. At this point, both of these may be differentials. However, I would still consider an adverse drug reaction to the drug at this point. Bring samples of the medications with you. Take note of the brand name and manufacturer as well.
