Itching on legs and then little black pinprick size bumps

Dear Doctor,

I was hoping that you can help me.  Yesterday night both the bottom of my legs gots very itchy.  I did itch and then applied benedryl lotion on them.  I also noticed that my hair stubles had all of a sudden grown out and that I have some dark reddish to blackish(maybe extremely dark brown) type of scab like marks on my legs.  I had actually noticed them a few minutes after the itch attack. The  spots are tiny pinprick size and do feel just a little raised.  A scab from iching cannot form that quickly.  I have been getting some warts--small flat white warts.  But also I have been getting other rashes as well, such as white clogged oil glands on my lips and some folliculitits white pimples on my underarms and under my eyebrows.

What do you think that these tiny dark pinprick size erruptions are?  In some areas I do see a hair stuble in the middle and in some others I am not to sure--unless the stuble is stuck inside the little bump.  Any help and insight would be appreciated.

thank you for your help

Regards,

Smita

Hi,

If this is the case, this could be folliculitis or inflammation of the hair follicles. This  may present as pimple like lesions anywhere in the body. Associated symptoms may include itching and pain.  It is important to avoid scratching the area to prevent secondary infection. If this persists, it would be best to see your doctor for further evaluation and management of the rash.

Take care and regards.

Hi Dr Santos,

Thank you for the reply.  Some of the dark spots have a little redness around them. But they are not big pimples.  Other seem like like little pinprick scab sized dark spots by themselves.  Can you get clogged hair follicles which are dark colored on the legs.  I don't have any current itching on the legs.  I have tazorac. Would that help with the spots?  I have not shaved for a while. I had waxing done early last week though.

Thank you for your help and I look for to hearing from you.

Regards,

Smita

Hi Smita,

Ingrown hairs or razor bumps result when the shaved hair gets trapped inside the follicle or grows back into the skin.It is a foreign-body inflammatory reaction surrounding ingrown hair, which results from shaving. It can cause scarring, redness and swelling.Over -the-counter  anti-histamine medications may help with the itching. At night, apply a lotion containing glycolic acid to the affected areas. This exfoliates the surface skin cells and reduces the likelihood of new inflamed spots.

Are there other signs or symptoms present? It would be best to have this  evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
