Itchy Red Bumps for Years and a Bad Allergic Reaction

I have been getting itchy red bumps on my face for the past 2 years. Usually it is just one or two bumps. Sometimes they go away within a day or two, sometimes it takes a week. Recently, I decided to try out a new product on my face. I had a bad allergic reaction to it within 5 hours of it being on my face. My face (especially cheeks) was very red, hot, and itchy. I washed my skin as best I could, and applied hydrocortisone cream. The redness and itchiness went away within a day. However, over the course of the next week, I started getting a BUNCH of those itchy bumps that I was getting before. I was getting more and more and they would not go away. One of them had redness that radiated out across my whole cheek. Bottom line, an allergist prescribed me prednisone for 2 weeks. This stopped the itching and the red bumps for a couple days, but now the bumps are coming back (I am still on the prednisone). No itching, but I am worried once I come off the prednisone, my skin will just go back to getting increasingly worse and worse. Someone please help, I just want my skin to be normal for once and to not be afraid to go out in public.
