hi, i know what you mean i have three kids and i pray everyday that they don't get my skin.i have a keloid on the side of my face and i got it remove last year it came back longer i tried med derma cream and and scar zone, it just irritated the scar i even had steroid injections after surgery but im not sure the doctor did all he could to keep it from coming back. so, i wouldnt have another surgery i would like to get it to shrink and flatten it out and except that i may have this scar forever.....good luck god bless
In Jan. 2004 I had a large keloid removed from abdomen, went for the radiation treatment it lasted for about 6 months. Upon flaring up the DR tried lasers, cream etc. nothing helped. I recently had another abominal surgery Nov 08 . I am trying the radiation again only this time the DR says he'll watch me more closely since it failed last time. So far scar is 18' long slightly pink in some spots. I've got my fingers crossed. I'm hoping my daughter doesn't get my skin.
GOOD LUCK!

Hi Matt,
Keloids are extremely difficult to treat. Some keloids respond to topically applied silicone sheeting and steroid injections near the site. However, there is a risk of thinning of the skin with steroid injections. Alternative therapies include: freezing and steroid injections; surgery plus radiation therapy; laser therapy and other injectable agents, such as interferon alpha and gamma. Surgical removal of keloids may lead to the keloid coming back larger than it was before the excision.
