Lump on upper lip

For at least a decade or so I have had this small lump on my upper lip that came about after I got elbowed in the face playing basketball. 10 years later the small lump is still there and I have tried picking at it which has helped a little bit but its probably not the best idea. Someone told me that one way to get rid of it would be some kind surgery and that what I had was scar tissue. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. I'll post a pic so you can see what I am talking about.

Hello,
It looks like a hematoma which had formed after the injury. But since it has been persisting for so many days, it may be due to calcification of the hematoma. So get it examined from a doctor as it may need to be surgically removed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Well I have had this small lump since 6th grade and I am 20 now. And the reason I got it in the first place was when I was elbowed in the face playing basketball. It was bleeding really bad so I just cleaned it up really good but ever since than there has been this lump where I got hit.

Hello,
This lump can be a small cyst, hematoma, mucocele (if present on the inside of lower lip) or a benign growth of the lips. Since the lump is painless and not changing in size, all these possibilities need to be evaluated.
