MRSA?

With all the talk about this deadly infection...I think I have become a bit nervous about it

42 yo female feeling great...no fever, no lethargy, nothing. allergic to pcn, erthromycin, septra, motrin

Yesterday, I noticed a small raised area on my inner thigh..not near any hair or hair follicles- actually no hair around that part of my inner thigh at all.

The area is small, about the size of a pea. It is a little raised, but not as much as a pimple, just slighty... it's more flat than round...it reminds me of a donut...the inside is a little indented inward, and the outside is the raised part. It's red, but is not hot, nor is it painful. I wouldn't have known it was there if I hadn't actually looked down when I was going to the bathroom.
Only the raised outer area is red, not around it . The inside is white/pale looking...and that part isn't raised. It's not a pimple. It's started yesterday looking like a red flat, but circular area, with a dot of white in the middle. the whole aread was raised..today the outside is raised and red, and the inside white "dot" is now a bigger area. The whole thing hasn't gotten any bigger, just the inside , making it look like a donut. ( it reminds me of a cell with a nucleous in it). My lymph nodes in my groin area are not enlarged...there is really nothing else except that area.no oozing, actually kind of dryish appearing.

Does this sound like MRSA? Should I go to the derm tomorrow? If not, how long should I wait and what should I watch for?
With all my allergies to antibiotics, would they be able to treat me?
I have bactroban and a slightly stronger cortisone cream...can I mix them and put them on it?

SOrry for the crazy questions, but it's hard not to get a little freaked when I see that people are dying from this...

Thanks for your thoughts.

thank you for your advice...sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing...I ,too have spent many years as a medical professional in hospitals. amd have seen this too many times...just let my worries get the best of me, this time, espcially with all the news reports in my area of this "superbug"...
I did show it to a colleague of mine yesterday ( Derm, MD) and he said it isn't a clogged duct, or folliculitis, which I suspected, as it didn't hurt and there is no hair where it is...
He gave me some stronger steroid, and actaully , it's much better today...

Thanks for all your thoughts on this.

MRSA is a hospital superbug which you are at risk of contracting if you've been in hospital, especially with a serious wound. It is not something you need to worry about in general, i have nursed people with MRSA and it is not always fatal, nor did i develop it. Dr Rockoff is right you need some support with your anxiety, maybe counselling or anti-anxiety drugs. Loiloi x

It sounds like a blocked pore.  I suggest you apply bacitracin daily and leave it alone.  By all means see your dermatologist for face-to-face reassurance.  You may also want to get some counseling to deal with your anxiety.

Best.
