Mild-Medium Facial Scarring Several Years After Acne --Chemical Peels?

Mild-medium acne scarring which I've had several years after acne as a teenager has been resolved.

They appear as very small brown dots throughout my face (Cheeks Primarily). There is no feel to the touch (skin is smooth now), purely aesthetic.

I previously received chemical peels (I believe salicylic acid) via an esthetician.

3 layers would be applied (at max) which I opted for. Subsequent to receiving these treatments, I would have severe facial skin cracks on my entire face. After the entire area that was covered each treatment had cracked sufficiently, I would literally peel off an entire layer of skin, in very large chunks.
>Apparently inadvisable, they thought there would be skin pigmentation treatment needed, but it actually healed extremely quickly after each time I peeled it off, and the results were what I would consider optimal.

I no longer have access to see a professional to receive chemical peels.

I am wondering if the at-home products are advisable to use?
>Should I opt for salicylic acid or something else?
>>Is there any downfall for opting for a stronger % as oppose to working my way up?

Thanks,
