My doctor seems to be wrong?

So last month I came to a doctor for my acne (not a dermatologist but a general physician) my acne is not that severe but I get a lot of underground acne.  So he prescribed me an antibiotic that I forgot but it started with a C and cetaphil (that's it no toner or moisturizer) and he also said that I should wash my face EVERYTIME that it is oily and told me to come back 2 weeks later.  During that 2 weeks I saw a very minimal effect some old onea are gone but new ones are growing. After 2 weeks when I came back, I told him that maybe he can prescribe me Benzoyl Peroxide but he told me no.  And then prescribed me another antibiotic called tetracycline 3 times a day for 10 days.MY QUESTION IS is he really doing it right I mean he's a trusted doctor but what he says is a complete opposite of what I learned through reading articles and stuff. I hope you understand my story and hope to get a feedback soon ☺
