Non Itchy red bumps on buttocks

This morning when I woke up I noticed about a dozen small red bumps on my rear.  They range from about 2 mm to 6 mm across.  They do not itch and are only slightly painful as of now.  They do not appear to contain puss, however look more like an oversize mosquito bite.  I am trying to figure out what has happened and what this may be.  I think the culprit may have been a hot tub in a rented condo two days ago.  I was in the hot tub nude and afraid this may be where these bumps originated.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  If no luck here, the next step is a dermatologist I suppose.

Thank You for the suggestions and likely diagnosis.  I have not used any creams but taking care to keep my skin clean.  The redness and bumps are slowly going away and almost gone; thank goodness!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms, it sounds like hot tub folliculitis. It is an infection of the hair follicle with Pseudomonas bacteria and is most commonly seen in people who bathe in a contaminated spa, swimming pool, or hot tub.

I would suggest that you apply calamine lotion and a simple antimicrobial cream like Bactroban or Neosporin on the rash and keep the area clean. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl can be taken. If the symptoms persist then topical steroids and oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
