Not a cold sore?

I have currently what appears to be a small cold sore on my lip.  What is interesting to me is that it has been there for several months, never opened or became "*****" and is not painful whatsoever.  It is approximately the size of this "O" and has not changed since it began.   I have tried numerous things to dry it out, as well as using neosporin and ice.  I have googled images of everything imaginable (none which look anything like what i have) and my doctor told me it isnt something I should worry about.  Well that may be true but it still sits there visible and embarassing.
From what I can gather it is not a cold sore or "fever blister" so what else could it be?
