my scalp is very scaly and itchy, and Nizarol shampoo only relieves it for one day. The scales drop onto my face giving me a rash..any advice please.  My hair falls out pretty badly when I comb it.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales.
Seborrehic dermatitis, also called adult cradle cap is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease is aggravated by sweating and humidity. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed. Till then try medicated shampoos. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
