Mole on abdomen has grown (photos included)

Background: 30M, 5'11", 150lbs, caucasian.

Images (last year and this week) here: https://imgur.com/a/WlXYfl7

I noticed this new mole above my tummy last year and took the left photo. Since then it appears to have grown and developed a pink border around it. The right photo was taken this week. Current size is 3mm x 1mm

I have a dermatologist appointment 6 weeks from now. Does the mole look concerning? Should I push for a quicker appointment?

You're taking the right path by seeing a dermatologist in-person for any mole that has changed in size, shape, or color.  3 mm wide is pretty small for a melanoma, but not unheard of.   Based on your photos, the growth rate is pretty slow.

Based on my family's history of moles & skin cancer, I'd say that's slightly suspicious rather than alarmingly suspicious, and I would keep the 6-week appointment.  If it's causing you lots of anxiety, of course you might feel more comfortable moving it up.
