Only as a matter of support, I too would suggest he see a rheumatologist. Ditto on the doctor's recommendation here.

I also have not heard of their being necessarily related. Still, he'll obviously need to have the other symptoms of the legs and bowel looked into right away. These symptoms are not caused by Medrol. I think he ought to see a rheumatologist (arthritis specialist), who may be able to put all these findings together into one diagnosis, and of course treat as appropriate. (By the way, most arthritis conditions would be associated with a much higher sedimentation rate than 30, but that's a bit out of my field of expertise....)
