Poison Sumac/ivy reaction without a rash??

My husband and I did yard work 1 week ago in a known poison ivy area.  I backed off the area and he continued to work, sustaining the poisonous rash.  I did not sustain a rash, however I am extremely itchy all over especially at night.  Could I be reacting to the poison sumac?

First contact with poison ivy might take a week or so to react with vesiculation or it might just be itching. Once you are sensitized the next time would give you the typical rash.
Regards.
