Prolonged jock area itch

Had this itch for a while, probably a few months in my groin area.  In more detail, was more right in the crease of my scrotum and inner thigh on both sides.  Would itch like CRAZY from time to time throughout the day. Started usung some medicated body powder to keep the area dry and it stoped most of the itching but would still get the burning-itch here and there. Then started using some 1% hydrocortizone cream in the morning, afternoon and evening.  Seemed to do a bit more as far as relief than the powder but would still itch. Hard to see down there myself so I had my father (Family Doc M.D.) take a peek and thought it looked like eczema or jock itch. Next, tried Lamasil for about a week and a half. Eventually, it do away...however, a few weeks after that ordeal, I started to itch REALLY bad in the hair area above my penis below my belly button...mostly the thick 'n curlys.  Also, very small raised portions all over, kinda looks like goose bumps but do not go away.  Now, I have had small bumps, all at the base of the more spread out hairs at the base of my penis for as long as I can remember but never noticed them in the area I am describing now. Also, when I get a severe itching symptom, the bumps gets much more pronounced, I take it due to the irritation from scratching. Latest trial has been Cephalexin for a week now 500mg TID and I thought I was finally getting rid of it!!  Haven't really had a severe itch in almost 3 days...until today...Oh my GOD it terrible and came out of no where.  So I did the usual, went to the bathroom, scratched the hell out of it and put a cool paper towel on the area for a few mins...and here I am writing this now.  OK now my history...3 years ago, I finally went to a Dermatologist about my moderate acne on my forehead, shoulders and chest and when I went there, he also told me that some of it also looked like some folliculitis...now, I guess my question, is if all this irritation is is the same type of affliction, how can I get some relief or better yet, eliminate it?  Last time I had blood work was right before that first Dermotologist visit and everything was perfect!!  I am positive it is nothing like an STD as I have been married for years and before my wife, was always meticulous about protecting myself although my wife does have Genital Herpes.  And from what she tells me, what I am suffering from is NOT herpes. Any tips, suggestions or anybody thinks a bit more info could help, please do not hesitate....
