REDNESS ON SCROTUM SKIN

Dear doctor,
The skin around my scrotum is red and itchy(very little) from the past two months. My doctor pescribed Clotrimazole & Betamethasosome Dipropionate cream twice daily , levocetrizine at night. But this redness comes back again and again. On the application of the medicine it goes away, but as the course of the medicine completes , after one or two days it again comes back. Please Help.

Thank you,
Jeet.

Hello,
From the symptoms they look like clogged pores or blocked sebaceous glands. Wear cotton undergarments, exfoliate with a very gentle scrub and them apply some Neosporin cream or calamine lotion.

If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello Dr.,
i have completely recovered from the fungal infection in my scrotum skin...with the help of prescription anti-fungal like terbinafine and a anti-fungal cream.

But recently i noticed some whiteheads on the corona of my glans. These are very small can be barely seen, there are 3-4 of them all very small over there. If i look very closely i can see them.
i have never had sex and i always my own undergarments and stuff. Can you please suggest what may be those.

Thank you.

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be intertrigo. An intertrigo is an inflammation (rash) of the body folds. It most commonly occurs due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore.

Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching please take some over the counter antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
