Raised, red circle.

I have a red, raised circle. It isn't a ring; it's about the size of a quarter on my upper thigh, and is not itchy. It is sore and is almost completely red, with some very small spots inside of it that aren't. It does not look like ringworm, it is not scaly. Any ideas what it could be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
One possibility for such a rash is granuloma annulare. Granuloma annulare is a chronic disease consisting of a rash with reddish bumps arranged in a circle or ring. Usually it is asymptomatic but due to cosmetic disfigurement topical or oral steroids may be needed. Please discuss this with your dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

All the images I've seen of Lyme disease look more like a bulls-eye type design, and it began as something that looked like acne, no tick found. Thank you for replying.
