Rash/Bumps on Lips

Hi

I started to get involved with this new girl and things were fine for a week of activity but then 2 things happened. 1. I started to lose a lot more hair from the top of my head when drying it with a towel and 2. what I want to focus on, was  my lips. On the bottom Lip 75% of it (Mainly on the left and right and a tiny area of the middle of the lip was ok) was covered with a lighter colored red rash (the skin looked very raw and did not have the same texture as the normal skin of the outer lip) that went into the softer area of my lip inside my mouth. Same thing on the upper lip. Where the rash stoped there was a rough line outlining where my normal skin began again (that line was a brighter red color).. On the upper lip, same deal, + little whitish bumps on one side of the lip. I keep putting Aquafor to calm it down or else it would burn all the time but when I brush my teeth, Use listerine or eat salty/spicy foods, its burns so much. I've had it almost 2 weeks now .. any ideas?

Sometimes doctor's have no explanation for what ails you, and it's frustrating but true.  A year ago I had MRSA.  Several months after it cleared up, I had similar symptoms to MRS...was pertrified that it returned and the doctor was SURE it was MRSA again.  He gave me mega antibiotics and cream but the culture came back negative for MRS and for herpes.  They never did discover what I had, and I have had the same thing recur 2 times since...each time I am stressed over it and each time they cannot tell me what the issue was. My advice, see the doctor when you need to but do not think they are "gods" with all the answers.  They mean well, but they do not know everything.

Sounds like you are worried about herpes. Herpes only shows up on one side of the face. If you are so worried about it, why don't you ask her if she has ever had an outbreak or if she is infected. As far as your hair, you should look into Propecia. I use it and it works!!!! It's costly but well worth it.

Ok, As long as its not a sign of any STD.. I saw similar symptoms that I have but never adding the 'burning' part.. My doctor had no explanation for the extra hair loss and said the lips just looked inflamed but nothing more and just recommended to keep putting aquaphor on it.. Its just the intense burn is what had me concerned and the fact that the doc didn't have a cluewhat it was.. I guess I have to wait it out unless you had any other ideas?

Thanks

Yes.  I think you're looking way too hard at your scalp and your lip.  I assume you're worried about an STD, though I'm not sure why, but because you are, you're paying what I would regard as excessive attention to your scalp and your lips.  The only way to get past worry like that is to see a doctor in person, as him or her to take a look, and then find out that you're OK and move on.

Best.
