Rash from Cancun

I have gone to Cancun the last two years in May. Every year I end up with a rash on my hands and feet only. The rash makes both my hands and feet swell. The rash on my hands and feet is not itchy, but does have a weird tingling/burning sensation. The rash is not small dots, but rather larger red patches that turn bright red and sometimes have a brighter red ring around the outside of the patch. Most of the spots are about the size of a pencil eraser, if not bigger. I have researched the internet but have not found anything that looks similar to what I get. Once I return home the rash is normally gone within a few days, I have gone to the dermatologist after I had gotten back, but by the time I get an appointment the rash is nearly gone so they gave me a simple steroid cream. I used the cream last year while in Cancun, but it did not seem to help the rash at all. I am returning to Cancun again in May this year and wanted to know if anyone had an idea of how to prevent this rash or what it is?
