Rash on inner thighs, scrotum and base on penis

Some months ago, I noticed small round reddish/white bumps about 1mm in dia around the base of my penis and on my scrotum. There were only a few. They seemed to come and go and did not itch. I popped one and a firm white substance came out and then the area bleed. The rash has moved to my inner thighs in the area touching my scrotum. However, the reddish/white bumps are now much more concentrated in a 2 sq inch area. The skin is also red. It does not itch but has a very mild burning sensation. What is it and how can I treat it?

Thanks.

Hello,
Molluscum are small pinkish-white lumps found on the penis. They are the result of a viral skin infection that is spread through skin-to-skin contact, so the infection can often be passed on during sex. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage.
You can consult your dermatologist and decide the best treatment for you.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thank you to both of you. I have read up on molluscum and the pictures I see look exactly like what I see. Does it make sense to "pop" them and remove the soft white core or will this help them spread? What treatments do you recommend? Will it eventually go away?

Thanks

Hello,

Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be folliculitis, cysts or molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug).

Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You  can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
