It started as a red spot on the bottom of my penis. (the beginning of Sept.) The complete list of my symptoms: burning during urination, red rash on glans from the opening to the base of the head - a diamond shape, and inflamation under the foreskin. The meatus looks a puffy. With erection, you can see tiny white bumps -not blisters, that do not hurt.
I got tested for all STD's. HSV-1 came back positive, however this was no shock. (I'll get little white bumps on my lips that go away with Abreva)
I started by going to my General Physician. He placed me on Doxy for 10 days citing Urethritis. When I asked about the possibility of yeast, he said he doesn't really agree that it occurs in men.
I went back to my GP and over several visits I was given the following creams: Nystatin and Triamcinolone, clotrimazole and betamethasone. These had minimal effect. He sent me to see a Dermatologist. The derm thought that it could be Yeast. She said that the Doxy could have made it worse. She gave me 7 days of Diflucan. I noticed that I did experience less burning and the color/rash seemed to look a little better. After the last pill, I noticed that the burning has come back. My girlfriend went to her ObGYN and was diagnosed with a yeast infection. She showed the picture of my penis and she was certain it was yeast telling me to use the cream that she was giving my girlfriend. I've tried this cream for the last week, and while the color looks a little better, I don't see anything dramatic. If it's working, it's working very slowly. My Derm has now wants to treat me for Eczema, however it doesn't make sense to me given the burning during urination. She wants me to start taking ProTopic.
There is still burning during urination, the light rash on my penis that still has little bumps what can only be seen when erect or when you catch them in the light, and the penis actually feels like it has a fever. (it feels hot. If it gets pressed, it feels warm on the inside of the urethra.)
