Rash

My husband, a few months (approx. 10) ago, got a rash on the trunk of his body and thought it was detergent or something that could be fixed.  Now, several months later his rash did not go away and now I have a rash on the trunk of my body.  If I didn't know better I would think it is measles, but I know that isn't the case.  I am half-way intelligent and know that it isn't the normal, first things you would ask like detergent, fabric softener...what I don't understand is that he had it and now I do.  I thought of foods, but no, that doesn't get it.  The only thing we have really changed in our diet is D3.  Can anyone help or does anyone have an idea.

may be important questions.
how old is your mattress?
is the area infected the part of your body that usually touched the bed?
could it be due to a fungal infection that can be caused by the fugus that grows in mattresses from the waste that dust mites produce?
had that happen to a couple I know.
they both got a rash and they both were in their 70's though
the mattress was over 20 years old.
the doctor treated them for a fungal infection but as soon as it was gone it returned later on.
the doctor asked them about their mattress.
so they had to get a new bed and mattress cover to use while being treated.
the mattress cover and sheets had to be changed once ever 3 days.
and then when they were done with the last treatment they got a new mattress protector.
so far it has been smooth sailing and it has not returned.
there is a reason most mattresses have only a ten year warranty and that is one.
see your doctor.
It could be a form of herpes, shingles, or a fungus infection.
all of which can be transferable as far as I know.

I can't comment much on anything else other than it restricts itself to the trunk. My husband first acquired it about 6 months ago and we thought it was a heat rash.  I just got the rash about two days ago.  It itches like crazy.  I go to the doctor on the 26th of February.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Are there other symptoms present and can you elaborate on the rash? Aside from irritation or dermatitis, this could also be infectious in nature, especially if both of you developed this rash. If there is no history of allergy involved, we can also rule out allergic reaction to certain substances. I would recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. A complete medical history and direct clinical examination are important to reach a diagnosis.  If it presents with pruritus, try to avoid scratching to prevent secondary infection.

Take care and regards.

Thanks for your input.  No, my husband doesn't go to a gym or do much hanging out anywhere.  We are both close to 60 so we are pretty much low key.  I'm still thinking it is something we are ingesting.  I'm beginning to think it might be the water.

Could be a form of herpes that attacks other skin areas other than the cold on mouth variety. Or it could be a form of other skin viral contagions. See a doctor when it is evident is best and let him know of the transference from your husband to you?
Does your husband frequent a gym or has he been in jail? There are many skin virals that are in areas where lots of men hang out and sweat. Face it. Men are not as clean in areas where it is most important. Look at any bathroom men frequent. The smell when a woman is not there to clean up after them is evident. They are the same with exercise equiptment. That is one reason I do not go to gyms.
