Recently I was diagnosed with Molluskum Contagiosum on my lower abdomen/groin area. My dermatologist is currently treating the condition with cryotherapy and has prescribed me Aldara cream to apply every other night. My girlfriend who I've had for about a year claims she has never had any of the same symptoms I do, and she is the only girl I've ever had sex with. The doctor told me however that I most likely got it by having sex. Also, just recently, I started to develop an itch in the cravace of my butt. However, this itch comes and goes at different times of day. Because of all of this, I did go an have an STD/HIV test done, and everything came back normal and negative. I figured the "Jock-itch" might be due to stress or possibly not drying myself properly for a few weeks due to the fear of spreading the mollusku. Due to this, I have a few questions: could I have possibly picked this up from some other route than sex? How long will condition last? How common is this disease in the 22yr old age range? What could this "Jock Itch" type problem be in my buttocks? Please let me know what you think. I would truly appreciate any new information yuo may be able to provide.
Thank you

I'm concerned. For sometime now, I have been getting a rash on my right buttocks cheek (usually the same spot if not next to it or around it). It gets blister like and itches tremendously. It usually lasts about 1 week before it starts to dry up. I usually get it every few months, sometimes around my menstrual period. I've been using calomine lotion to dry the spot and it has been working - it at least stops the itch.
I'm concerned that it might be herpes. If so, how could I have gotten it and does this spread to other parts of the body. I've never noticed anything on my husband. Should I be looking for blister like rashes on his genitels or could it simply look like a red rash? Does it have to itch? What should I be looking for?
Is this dangerous and could it turn into something else more serious.
I'm a breast cancer survivor and am concerned about my immune system. Please help and put me at ease. The thought of herpes makes me very nervous.
Thank You.

I can't answer you specifically, because you would need to contact the lab or test manufacturer for specific information. But you should know that a number greater than zero on an antibody test doesn't mean it's positive, as long as the number is lower than the lower threshold for the test. To ease your mind, contact the lab.
Take care.

I've got my results of my Herpes test in the mail and I'm confused of the results.
My IgG test cameback as 0.4.
My IgM I/II combination came back as 0.95H Ratio. What does that mean? Doesn't explain that too well. I'm confused for the doctor put a note saying tests are normal but not clear for herpes. Can you help decipher this?
Regards.
Followup:
The results came back all normal. I asked the doctor what test he did and all he told me was everything was within norm but that I might still have herpes and that my body wasn't showing symptoms (so what the hell was the bump on my butt then). Not sure what that means if I don't have the antibodies in my system. I went to my old doctor and showed him the rash and told me that it doesn't look like herpes for it hasn't blistered and it went away real quick using over the counter medicine. Also, I was mistaken about the rash coming back on the same cheek, it was the opposite cheek. I feel much better knowing that it wasn't herpes, but very angry at the fact the original doctor was trying to save face and say that I might still have it (how mean can that be). Am I on the wrong path assuming that I don't have herpes.
Regards.
No, I don't think you're on the wrong track. If you ever get bumps back there again, see a doctor knowledgeable in STD's right away, so you'll know.

It certainly doesn't sound like herpes. Herpes presents as a cluster of blisters rather than "a couple of bumps." On the pother hand, the recurrence may or may not be of significance. I wouldn't put much emphasis on whether you had recent sex or not--recurrent herpes may have been contracted a long time ago. As to outbreaks elsewhere on the body, you wouldn't expect those, so that doesn't help either. The fact that they went away in 2 days does argue for sweat bumps and not herpes.
I recommend that you be sure the blood test the doctor did was one of the reliable herpes tests now available, HerpesSelect and POCkit. For details, please see www.herpesdiagnosis.com/blood.html. That will help insure accuracy and likely reassurance.
Best.
