Reaction from creams

I was having irritation on tip of penis and some rash , so saw my GP. He said that it is Balanitis and asked me to apply the Canesten cream for 2 weks. The condition healed a bit, but there was still some redness on the tip.So I went back to my GP who prescribed me Kenacomb ointment. I used it for 3-4 days and the irritation aggravated and i could see inflamation in new areas on the penis head. Then I went to my GP and he changed the cream to Bactroban. I used it for 3 days and over these 3 days, my skin became red and there was irritation all over the Penis head. The GP asked me to stop both the medicines and he is of opinion that, I may have a reaction of bactroban and has developed into a fungal infection. he has prescribed me Hydrozole 1% for treating the reaction and fungal infection. I wanted to know, if such reaction is possible by use of these creams and whether they lead to another fungal infection. Appreciate if you could please reply

Thank you for your comments. I had one more question. How much time does it take to heal and if any oral medicines can help. What other options I have for faster healing. I read up on Internet that contact dermatitis could take days or even weeks to heal. Its quite painful and Im travelling a bit , so any ideas to make pain less would be great.
Once again thanks for your advice. Regards

Hello,
You can use the cream that your GP has prescribed and it contains both a steroid and an antifungal cream. If you are uncomfortable using warm water, then you can alternately use a towel and dip it in warm water. Then you can apply it to the penis. Application of calamine lotion also helps in soothing the skin.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thanks for the comments. I wanted to know what are antimicrobials and steriod prescription is a cream containing hydocortisone(1% w/w) and Clotrimazole (1% w/w) a microbial. To soak in warm water is very painful and the whoel head of Penis pains on contact and is very hard.
The GP has prescribed me a cream containing the above compnents. Will it help if its a contact dermatitis.
Can a fungal infection make the skin red and the area around hard and painful to touch.
Appreciate your comments.

Hello,
The redness sounds like contact dermatitis to the creams. Retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
