Red Area on penis

Can anyone tell me what this looks like? Its about two and a half weeks now. No pain just red and pealing. I had a cut in the same area a long time ago. I think it might be a fungus or yeast type of thing. I had several layer of thermal clothing for a few days and think its related. I also had a one time oral from a massage lady more than several months ago. What should i try to use to clear it up? I don't think it std. Thanks

Hello,

Mild steroid creams are those that contain hydrocortisone in the concentration of 0.5-2.5% (DermAid Cream, Skincalm or dermacort).Zinc oxide creams are like Desitin and Diaparene. You can consult a dermatologist or pharmacist before purchasing them.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Thank you for the info. What are mild steroid cream names? Zinc oxide paste names? Or just look in a CVS for over the counter with those listed in the creams?

Hello,

Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic), heat rash ,excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms) .

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or a mild steroid cream on the rash.
If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
