I have tiny, itchy amber dots on my lips. What are they?

Over the last four days I have noticed a series of very small amber/flesh-colored dots appear across my lips. They started in the lower left corner of my lip and are now spread evenly across my lower lip and along the lower edges of my upper lip. At this point I highly doubt they are cold sores, as they have not developed into large, fluid-filled blisters (which they should have by now). I talked to my dermatologist on day two and he could not identify them.

My lips have been pretty chapped over the past two months since I am on accutane and I have been moiturizing them with Aquaphor (vasoline) and regular chapstick. The first two days I applied Abreva regularly for fear it was a cold sore (I get them quite often) but have since stopped. The dots don't seem to be doing anything, although they occasionally itch and seem quite sensitive when my lips are dried out/uncovered. I have a history of sensitive skin (particularly in winter) and have noticed dots like these on areas like the backs of my hands and shoulders.

Is this just an extreme reaction to dryness, or does it sound like an indicator of something more serious? I'm very worried since this particular issue is something I've never encountered before.
