Red Rash in Shape of Rings on torso

Hello:
I noticed red spots and red rings on my husband's back one evening.  They were a light pink in color.  Some of the spots were solid and others looked like oval and very unsymetrical rings or donuts.  The next morning, the 'rash' did not disappear and by the next evening, the rash seems to have become slightly inflamed (raised) and there appears to have turned to a deeper pink in color.

My husband says it does not itch.  He has not consumed any new foods.  The only new thing he has been taken and that has been for almost a week now would be a multivitamin and glucosamine 500g tablets (the latter being taken for over a month now).  He was also working out in the yard a few days ago; cutting pressure treated wood.  Once he had his shirt off and I'm wondering if perhaps the chemicals from the wood from the flying sawdust could have created this rash?

We have not tried any topical creams yet.  I am concerned about this rash and have searched this site looking for a similar match but cannot find any.  I am going to apply some hydrocortisone .5mg as that is the strongest we can purchase in our country without a prescription.

Any help given would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

that would be ringworm....and is only currable with a topic ointment from your doctor.

It is VERY contagious and takes weeks to clear.

It is a royal pain in the keester!!  Clean sheets and towels everyday.... don't share any wash clothes or towels!!!
