Red Rash on Penis

I have never been sexually active in any way. I am 22 years old and several weeks ago I saw a red rash forming on the head of my penis. The skin at the time of my penis was red and flaking off. Additionally at the back of the head towards the rim of my penis a red rash was forming and it was slightly itchy. I went to my doctor and he told me it might be a fungal infection or eczema (I have had eczema on my hands and arms since I was a baby). He said it might be the beginning stages of a fungal infection but he was not sure because I did not have the typical lesions associated with fungal infections on the penis. He prescribed me Clotrimazole and betamethasone cream. I have been using it once daily for 11 days. The red rash is gone now and there is no longer any itchyness. My problem is that sometimes when I closely examine the head of my penis and squeeze it a little bit little dots seem to appear and they are a little bit red, and also when I masturbated a few days ago a red blotch appeared but the next morning it was gone. I don't know if I'm too stressed about this or something, and my doctor said it is not a big deal. Can you tell me what these dots are, and why a red blotch appeared? I really want to know what is going on down there. I have never been sexually active but I'm scared because when I get married I am going to REALLY need my Penis. Please help me.

There is no pain in the area. I only noticed it when I was in the shower, and then a few days later I started feeling itchiness. Essentially the only feeling I had was itchiness down there, but no pain. Now sometimes when I put the clotrimazole on I feel slightly irritated, like a slight burning type sensation but It leaves after an hour or so. I think maybe I put too much cream on it. But other than that I have no other sensation. I have a question though. My doctor said he wants to test me for Herpes simplex virus, but I never have been sexually active. He said it does not look like Herpes though. When I asked him he told me it's not serious and to relax and he said that you can get the virus just by touching. I think he just wants to check for it to cover his butt in case something ever happens, but I'm not sure though. What do you think of all this? Thank you for your help, it really calmed me down.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

I understand that you are very concerned about this. These red dots may be postinflammatory hyperpigmented areas and they may present with reddish areas especially when you try to look closely. They may also be blotches of blood vessels. From the sound of it, the fungal infection has resolved. I advise that you refrain from manipulating or picking on the area as this may only further irritate the skin.

Is there any pain present on the affected areas?
