Red face.

I have had a type of rash on my chin, around my mouth and on the sides of my nose. After I wash my face those area's are dry and flaky. I have tried many different things but nothing seems to help. Is there anything that I can do, without going to the doctor to make it better?

Hello,
Hypoallergenic mositurisers which are non fragrant will help you. Also use steroid creams only for a few days as they are not without side effects.Better to start with mild dose like 0.5% to 1%.Also keep your dermatologist informed about the steroids use.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

Thank you so much, I went and bought the dandruff shampoo and I got a steroid cream to put on my face for the itching. It seems to be doing better, I will have to wait and see because last night was the first time using it. (so far no more burning, the itching has decreased and the redness has went down)

Would using a hypoallergenic moisturizer on my face help?

I was also wondering, is this something that I will have for the rest of my life or will it go away and not return?

I called my family doctor and told him about my problem, he said that it would not hurt to try. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello,
Without examination,it is difficult to confirm but it can be seborrhec dermatitis.Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. Also apply hypoallergenic moisturizers on face.

If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
