Red line bottom of lip!

This small red line ( about an inch) has been slowly getting worse. more irritated as the days go on. I started to notice it barely around Oct/2012. It has been with me since and only has gotten worse. I have no FN clue what this is and have not been able to see a proper dermatologist yet. This was the only site where I found someone going with the same problem ( http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Dermatology/Red-line-below-my-bottom-lip/show/1192683) .... This issue is really frustrating. I have no clue what I can do to make this go away. PLEASE someone help! I live in Massachusetts and I never had to use chap stick ever in my life until last winter. And since then pretty much this problem has occurred with no solution to be found!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This red line can be due to dermatitis skin or perioral dermatitis if there are any bumps under the lips as well. Avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat your face dry. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
