Pseudogout like gout, presnts with the formation of crystals in the joints. But in pseudogout, the crystals are formed from a salt instead of uric acid.
calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) is the salt. Colchicine would help here. Do check with your doc.
Best wishes.
Wow! You have been going through a lot of physical trials! I guess one is never too young to suffer in this world. I'm under 40 myself and there are lots of negatives to jaw joint replacement (which I've wondered about for myself) compared to hip or knee.
I had been wondering myself if there was ankle replacement. Found some info on it (see private message). Is that the kind of surgery the orthopedist(s) suggest you would be a candidate for? Did they suggest fusion? Do they think/did they say your ankles will only continue to worsen as time goes on without surgery?
I can understand reluctance to do surgery as it carries its own set of risks, as you well know from your other surgeries. On the other hand, frequency of use of NSAIDs and pain medications have also have risks- can be hard on kidneys, stomach can be damaged, risks to the heart with prolonged use of things like ibuprofen and I think Celebrex carries cardiovascular risk too.
Have you tried acupuncture to see if that would help any? I know I saw on tv where they had done a scientific study about acupuncture and knee arthritis and there was benefits for that kind of arthritis anyway with acupuncture.
Surgery, I noticed they make a ankle replacement such as a knee replacement, I wonder if it would work.
The problem I have is I am too young for this problem younger 50s, I also have multiple lower disc surgeries due to degenerative discs.
I don't recommend "medical marijuana"- saw a tv special talking about the horrible effects on the brain, lessening ability to concentrate was one thing I specifically remember.
I'm sorry you are in such pain. I am having a lot of pain myself with arthritis in my jaws and at least one (have a test to hopefully learn what happened recently to the other jaw joint) disc torn. What have the orthopedic specialists suggested?
Yes multiple times, I tried to get into a medical trial for gout medicine and they would not let me me participate because they said I did not have gout.
I broke both my ankles when younger and they tell me its artheritis, I went to the mayo in scottsdale and it was confirmed, but the pain is to the point where I cant walk and I dont likeall the oploids prescribed for pain.
I have tried everything short of medical marijuana and I am considering trying it.
Have you had gout ruled out?
