SUN RASH

I noticed that many people are having the same problem as I am regarding sun rashes; where it is extremely itchy and turns red!  A few years back I went to Italy and I got this rash again ..this year I went to Punta Cana..and i almost got the rash until i discovered why it was reacting like this.

I do have sensitive skin, although over time your skin becomes more sensitive. I got rashes when I used tanning oil ...and it was bad...this time I said I was going to be smart and use sunscreen and then all the sudden i felt itchy around my chest area. I thought i was doing everything right but i discovered that you need sunblock but it has to be an OIL FREE based sunscreen!!! Thats the answer!...after using oil free sunblock my trip was better than ever ..I wasn't stuck in the shade. so there is the answer try using OIL FREE SUNSCREEN i guarentee it helps and you wont have a problem again.

i get the same rash myself for years sometimes i get it sometimes i don't and always in the same place which is my chest but sometimes it spreads to my stomach and arms..but this time i used SPF 20 from clarins like i usually do but on my lower chest i put neutrogena SPF 55 which is dry touch and broad spectrum uva-uvb..where i didnt apply the 55 higher up i got a really bad rash once again so i think the key is to use the non oily!! how do i get rid of this itch i am miserable!

Hi,

What you describe seems like sweat dermatitis or heat rash or solar urticaria.

You should try to keep the area dry and clean. Try some powder to absorb the sweat.

Apply calamine lotion at the site and take some oral antihistamine medications for your complaints.

You should use a medicated sun screen when you go out and also try to avoid sun exposure.

If the symptoms are still persistent, consult your dermatologist and get a proper clinical evaluation done.
