Should I glue my fingernail that's threatening to fall off?

A few weeks ago I smashed my fingertip in a door.  Most of the nail immediately turned purplish black.  I drilled a hole in the nail to release the pressure which eased the pain greatly. Now it doesn't hurt, but there's a "gap" under about half the nail.  I'm afraid the nail is going to get caught in something and tear it the rest of the way off (or worse, tear it partly off, leaving it dangling painfully).

Would it be a bad idea to squirt some superglue under the nail to keep it in place while it grows out?
