Skin Rash

Hi,
I have developed recently, some extremely itchy rashes just on both my arms ..especially near the elbow and upper arm. They itch and when I do scratch them using a soft towel/tissue they burn a little.
Am not able to understand the origin or a treatment for the same...
Need guidance

Hello,
These itchy rashes can be due to contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis or heat rash. Avoid using any lotions and creams for the meantime. Use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be taken.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thank You Dr....
I have now diagnosed the pattern of the itching ..its something related to exposure to sun..as when I was at home for two days the symptoms receeded but the day I went out the itching and burning sensation returned... As of now i have not applied any particilar Sun Screen..but would definately look forward to your advice on the same..Any particular cream or brand that would be best....Please advice

Hello,
You can use any sun screen with spf more than 30 but make sure that it is non perfumed and fragrance free. Also apply sunscreen half an hour before going out in the sun.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
