Skin hyper-sensitivity/pain which changes locations

About a month ago a began having symptoms of severe hyper-sensitivity, or a burning feeling in my right upper arm.  There is no rash or anything visable to the affected area and it only affects the skin not the muscle or anything else.  Since then it has moved over most of my body, but is more concentrated on the right-hand-side.  At times the pain is unbearable.  Other symptoms include extreme fatigue, but I also have trouble sleeping.  My doctor put me on Neuronton, which has only had negative side-effects for me. I had a MRI that ruled out MS.  After have many blood tests the only thing they found was that my B12 level was a little low and my doctor seems to feel that this is the reason for what's happening to me.  I will get one B12 injection each month for six months.  I feel that my doctor has dismissed me a little quickly in that my vitamin level was not that low and that if it was so low as to warrant concern, how come only one injection a month?
Do you have any idea what this could be?  Does it have a name, and if so what is the treatment?
Thank You, Val

Dear Val Gal,

I have no help here....but, I do suffer from the same condition mine occurs in my legs and then spreads. If you find out what the cause is please let me know. My doc. has been no help as well...she has done all the blood tests and x-ray's. The only thing she has found is my ANA level has been high and borderline twice. The pain has started to spread from the skin to the bone and joints.

As the doctor said previously that it is a neurological condition and not a skin care issue. I am going to try to get a CT scan next and then go to a neurologist next. But, I have found a site that might help with the hypersensitive skin issue. It relates to migraine's but gives some insight on the matter. www.news.harvard.udu/gazette/2000/04.27/migran.html

Please let me know if you find out anything about the condition my email address is ***@****

I apologize, Val, but these are neurological symptoms, not dermatological ones.  I honestly don't know what they mean, if anything.  As to the dose of B-12, that's out of my area as well, but I would assume that that's the regular dose of that vitamin.  If you have any doubts on that score, I'd ask the doctor just to be confident.

Best.
