Skin rash and Dermatitis

Since childhood i have had a very itchy skin and very often find that my arms & legs and other parts of my body will start itching for no reason, and it sometimes it starts with a little red dot but when i itch, it becomes like hives and all red. Sometimes i will get itchy and the hive like things will stay and then sometimes it will start itching right next to that and spread and takes a few days to disappear. I find that this happens to me more in summer and sometimes in exposed areas like neck arms, also very often i will feel an insect like sharp burn or bite and i fing there are small little lines on itching become hives. This itching also extends to my genital areas. I do have dry skin and i do not use soap and use lotion every day, i sometimes have anti-allergic tab if the itching is bad and i make sure i try and wear cotton close to my skin. Yet i cant undestand it as it is very uncomfortable and i can wear sleeveless vest or shorts or skirts as my skin feels itchy....... and often looks read or has previous marks etc. Any advice.?

Thank you for your advice, will take an allergy test and see as it is a great source of discomfort.

Hi,

From what you haev said it is pretty clear that you are allergic to some substance which is present in the atmosphere and increases during summer. This may be an insect, plant or even the heat. The lines that you indicate in your post are called as dermographism and is seen commonly in people who have allergies of some sort.

Your best bet is prevention and the most important part is protection from the stimuli. You are pretty well aware of the protective measure and I would just add addition of full clothing to prevent contact of any skin surface to the atmosphere.

Also perhaps an exam and investigation into the trigger may be needed using an allergy kit and some basic deductive logic. You may still have to use anti-allergics to help you get better and perhaps stay afloat at times.

An allergy specialist would help you a lot if you may decide to go through the testing.

Best regards
