I just came back from Cancun Mexico on 2/19/10.The last day before I left I noticed a red rash in 2 places on my lower abdomen. One is the the size of a quarter and the other on is the size of a dime. They are red,a little raised,
They don't itch, but it feels a little hot sometimes. It actually looks like It was a burn.I went to the ocean 4 days before this showed up.I don't wear tight clothes t the beach so nothing rubbed up on me.

I just returned from  a resort in Playa Del Carmen 11/27/2017 we were there for 5 days. The day after out first night I noticed a few bites on one leg, I assumed a spider must have been in the bed. One of the bites on my ankle became swollen and a small rash appeared. The next day I saw a mesquito in our room. Now I assume it’s mesquito bites. I ended up with approximately 10 total bites. Now home and my arms and legs are covered in a rash. Not really itchy but also have allergy like symptoms, sneezing, congestion, watery eyes. I am guessing reactions to the mesquito bites, but unsure. After reading all the other comments, I’m guessing I may end up at the doctors office as well. Going to try Benadryl first.

Thanks for the feedback . Its good to hear the specific symptoms from others. I went to cancun June 2016 and was bit by something on the side of my abdomen (3 places) and near my knee on my leg. Also, on my left hand. When I first noticed them there was definitely a sign of a bite, and spread out from the bite was what looked like a rash or burn. My wife said it was the zip line harness, because it looked like a burn. but I am 100% sure it was a bite. It was alittle itchy, but I continued my vacation. No fever. When I returned home the rash did not go away. I got a sore throat and decided to take some antibiotics that were from a previous sore throat infection. Today, I decided to look up some information and I am now writing this. I will definitely go see a doctor tomorrow. It has been 2 weeks since my return from cancun, the rash hasn't gone away, my stamina hasnt improved and my sore throat is lingering.

This is almost identical to my wife and my symptomology. We just spent 5 days at a resort in between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, june 14-19, 2016, and my wife has a 5" oblong strip that looked like a burn when first noticed. 24 hours after we noticed it, blisters appeared in the area and erupted. She is experiencing no itching or sore throat. Has not diminished in color intensity or size, but the blisters are healing. I, however have a much smaller lesion that is identical in color and blistering, and while it also doesn't itch, I am experiencing a persistent sore throat. Think we should see a doctor....

I am Troy.

I was in Porta Virata Mexico Dec 31 2013 got muiltiple moskito bits (some blistered. 1/6/14 I noticed what looked like a couple of burn marks on my left shin, 1/10/14 I now have a similar mark on my right shin where I cross my ankles. approx. 1 to 1.5" long .5" wide.
I came down with the flu 1/7/14 I think that is just a coincendent.

Did you get any good answers?
Thanks

"Visable looking burns mainlybon legs"I 1st went to Cancun in 2009 I had a few mosquito bites on the last day 0n the plane my leg was hot and itchy. And became red, close to the bite. When I arrived home it looke as though someone had swirled a flame over my leg the size of a hand. The doctor was convinced it was a burn! I adi manly new it was not.. 2 days later smaller patches arrived elsewhere over my stomach and arms? I went to a tropical infection guy he did not know what it was? 1 years later I went back to cancun, same thing began after a bites,  I took a antibiotic suitable for skin it did go, I am now here in Cancun dec 13 to my knowledge have not been bitten, but the doctor prescribed cortisone & anti histamine. this time I have large and small patches which look like burns and act similar to burns all over legs, and rash which now looks like age sports on hands? What is this?

When I stayed in Cancun in the summer of 2004, I also developed a blister like reaction on my legs and arms. I had never had anything like this happen to me before. I considered myself healthy. The rash went away. I ended getting preganant right after that trip and now my daughter has an ongoing blister like rash on her arms and legs, as well as hives on her forehead. They don't go away. Doctors cannot make a diagnosis. We are currently working with children's hospital. I mentioned the rash that I had prior to getting pregnant and these doctors tell me that there is no way that I passed this to my daughter. I still think I contracted something while swimming in the waters of cancun and somehow have passed this virus to my daughter. Doctor's frustrate me now.

We have a timeshare in Cancun and everytime I go, I get a rash on my legs which comes out in little red blistery bumps.  Also, my feet and legs will swell to the point where it's hard to even walk in sandals.  Within a day or two of returning back to Canada, it clears up without any medication.  I question whether it's a combination of the sun, sand and salt water,  I had the same problem on my honeymoon back in 1969 when we went to Florida.  I'm relieved to know I'm not defective now, as others also suffer from this problem.  :-)

Ola! I see this happened to quite long ago, and that there is no response :( We are just back from the Mayan Riviera, and my wife has experienced the exact same conditions you described. It occurred during the last 2-3 days of our trip. We were there 7 days. Ever get an answer? We are starting our 2nd day @ back @ home & she has the bumps, but swelling seems to be mostly gone.
Sounds like an allergic reaction to something in the environment there- allergy testing may help to pinpoint just what, but could be sand or heat, laundry detergent used on the clothing, differences in the water used to wash- or just about anything, even possibly some food she ate there that isn't normally eaten.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis or pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and itching. Topical and oral steroids are needed. Water, sweat, and soap may cause irritation and should be avoided in the disease. Topical zinc oxide and calamine lotion are useful for pruritus.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
