Small itching bumps

A few weeks ago I had many itchy red bumps appear on my inner thighs.  The condition has not gone away and, in fact, has "spread."  I have much smaller (but just as itchy) red bumps appear on my elbow, a couple on my chest and stomach, and several (even smaller) on the backs of my hands.  Any idea what could cause this and how to treat it?  A general direction would be greatly appreciated!

I have 6 sons, at xmas my youngest came down with a red itchy rash that started on his hands, then spread to his entire body, except his face, the rash turned to small blisters, andwas very very itchy, being christmas eve the only place i could take him was the chemist, he said it was an allergy, and sold me some medication for him, this did not work. Begining of Febuary, my x husband, who my children live with, and after much persuation, took him to the walk in center, where a nurse told him my son had Scabies, all my cheldrin were treated with Derbac M, it didnt work, now all six of my boys have the rash, as does my x, i now too am showing the symptoms, it starts as an intense itch, then small red spots appear which turn to blisters, it does not affect the face, the next diagnosis was shingles, but i know this is not contagious, My youngest is now getting better after using a course of Aqueous cream BP, but his skin looks like its been burnt. What is this? as there seems to be an outbreak of it where they live.

My fiancee has been bothered for about 4 years with small bumps that appear on different parts of his body, when they first appear its like a small lump and then it starts to itch and he applies some type of cream the doctor gave him and they go away in about four to 6 days, but they itch like crazy when they appear.  The docor could never tell him what this is, therefore I can't see how he can properly treat the patient when he does'nt know what he is treating. He also takes Diphenhydraine hcl 50MG  one a day at bedtime which does not help at all.
It sure would be nice to know something that could relieve him of this annoying problem.  He is a very healthy person with no other health problems.

I dont know if its the same, but i had little red itchy bumps on my elbows, that slowly moved (not like moved around, that would definetly have me running to the hospital. ive seen Aliens I, II, and III! ), moved as in spread. My brother and sister always had pretty bad allergies, but I dont. Im not sure if ive been under much stress. I have cats and dogs and live on a lake, so i thought maybe some kind of little bug or something, but my mom hasnt had any problems.
i have been eating alot of **** food lately. Jelly beans, whoopers, dots, easy cheese, etc.. I thought it might be an alergic reaction to some food dye, but for a week, i wrote down everything i ate, then the next week, didnt eat any of it, but its still there. I found that if you take a cool shower, and scrub yourself with a sponge and dandruf shampoo, the bumps shrink, and itching stops. If you use like Denorex, your whole body gets tingly (it feels good :-). Also, if i start to itch at night, i open a window, and it stops. I think its because of this damn El Nino'! Its the end of january, i live in michigan, and its 57 freakin degrees~! i dunno

My fiance' (22yr male) has had eczema for almost two years now but it has always been seasonal (winter) and localized (to a surgery scar).  Two weeks ago he broke out in a severe rash, mostly on his torso and thighs.  The rash does not look like hives, nor does Benedryl stop the itch, so we figure it is not an allergy.  It is not contagious, as I have no symptoms.  He is miserable and wakes me up at night with his itching.  He is afraid to put anything topical on for fear of making it worse. Looks like we will have to find the money to go see someone.

I started with a rash on forearms, and espescially on elbows.
this spread to my Knees, in particular the backs of my knees.
Two weeks later they are all over my body except my face, feet and genitals. My doctor has prescribed a course of steroids to calm things down as the irritation is taking over my life and not letting me sleep. I am scratching uncontrollably.
The idea is to control the itching and then reduce the steroid dosage till it reappears. then to do a biopsy on the rash.
Anyone had anything like this?
I am normally healthy and have no history of illness or skin complaints.

I too have itchy bumps - diagnosed as hives and I believe them to be chronic - I am starting a elimination diet to see if they are tied to food allergies - creams don't help and I want to figure out a source

I went to the doctor for something very similar...and he told me to use dandruff shampoo all over my body (and let it sit for 5 minutes without water running)and do that 2 times a week.  It has been the only thing that has relieved me.

My grandma is in her 80's and she came down with this rash that is red blister looking bumps but they are not blisters that burn and itch and are very painful they keep her up at night in pain . They also start to burn when touched by water . They are on her hands front and back and feet and on the bottom of her feet . And they are spread out out over her body in no certain areas arms, legs , etc. they are in little groups not in any big type areas . She has been to a docter who has put her on two different types of medicines that have not given  her any relief she said the docter told her it was nerve related but we are getting concerned because this has lingered on now for over 3 weeks . Can you help us in this matter and give us any information at all . Thank you for your help . Granny's girl

Funny...the same things has been happening to me...I've tried to figure out what it is and can't.  For the past 2 weeks I have had patches of Small red...some times itchy bumps break out everywhere from my neck ...on both sides...to my stomach....both sides..hips...and back of my knees.  I have tried creams etc...and they may ease the itching for a while but they still have not gone away...If you find out anything interesting, I'd be interested to know.
Thanks!

It is hard for me to say without looking.  In general, widesprad, aymmetrical, red and itchy bumps tend to be caused by a virus, rather than an allergy.  They often hang around for a while, and go away without treatment.  If yours have lasted weeks and started to spread, I would advise that you show them to a doctor, since only in that way can you get a definitive diagnosis.

Best.
