Small red bald spot on scalp

Hi, I'm a 21 yo female who is in good health.  Recently, I noticed a small bald spot on my scalp, which is red, surrounded by flaky skin, and seems to be right about the location where I usually part my hair.  There aren't really any symptoms for the spot...it's not itchy or warm.  I wonder if it could be fungal infection because I recently got a perm, and the stylist could have used contaminated equipment...but that was a few weeks ago.  Could it have manifested now?  Also, from my own reading, red bald spots on the scalp can be from ringworm infections?  I do go to bed with my hair wet sometimes, and I wonder if the moist environment would have contributed to that.  Any input would be very much appreciated.  Thanks!

Did you ever figure out what this was? I just discovered the same thing on my scalp, on the part line--and I'm really worried too!
