Spider Bite

I thought I had a pimple on my cheek, then the next day it looked more like a mozzie bite, the following day I thought a boil so I started putting bactroban on. It had like a hard core, was raised with what looked like a bit of puss in the middle surrounded by a red ring then the redness and swelling (like a great big puffy, red blister but not a blister) spread out towards my nose.  Went to the doctor who said it was a spider bite and put me on an antihistimine, quarter zone and a strong dose of  antibiotics for 3 days.  Its now itchy and sometimes I feel like tingling feeling.  Its still very red and swollen in the mornings and evenings but during the day seems to deceive me and looks better.  I"ve kept it clean and tomorrow is the last day of antibiotics and quarter zone etc.  How long does this last?  The hard core in the middle doesn't feel as big as what it did - does this mean it is finally healing and disappearing?  The doctor told me to watch that a cyst doesn't form or they would have to drain it.  Does one just wait after trying all this medication and let it take its own course of healing is there something else I can try?  Any ideas on what type of spider this could have been?  I live in Pretoria, South Africa.

Many thanks for your suggestions, will first try the hot compresses.  We have an ointment on the market here called "Trax" which you put over a sting or thorn with a band over which draws it out - wonder if that will work to draw it all out?

Have you tried hot compresses? This would help to drain any infection.

You could also try putting dish soap on a band-aid or gauze and putting that on the spot while you sleep.
