Stickyness around lips

My lips have always been dry, especially in the winter, but after using chap stick and not licking them when they become aggravating, it gets better. This winter the same thing happened, my lips began to get very dry so as usual I began to apply different chapsticks. I saw the condition start to get better but when I went to sleep last night I applied Chapstick so it would last me through the night. When I woke up I noticed it felt very sticky and there were orange yellowish colored areas around where I applied Chapstick. I didn't think it was too big of a deal, I got out of bed and used a moist warm towel and gently removed it, and it easily came off. But after I could see my top and bottom lips still glistening with some sticky substance, I washed my face and realized that it wouldn't come off because it was probably being produced constantly. I put Chapstick on it, and just recently hydrocortisone ointment. Any ideas on what it could be or how to stop it?

GO VERY EASY WITH THE HYDROCORTISONE CREAM.  It has ruined many people's skin if they over-used it.  I've read many people who have had it happen where their skin thinned out.  Be careful. Try Burt's Bees for your lips.

That might've been it, I've applied hydrocortisone cream which I had for my eczema to my lips. My lips were just dry but after applying every hour it's done wonders. I think it's the cure for dry lips. Hopefully it lasts till the morning.

Hi and welcome. Sounds like the dry areas have absorbed the chapstick and thats way it wont come off. You should check the directions on how to use it, maybe your putting too much on.
