Strange red rashes or burns on legs

I noticed some red marks on my legs this past weekend.  I didn't think much of it because they were not itchy, raised, burned, blistered, or anything like that, just discolored bright red.  Today I noticed they are darker red and are starting to blister and feel like burns.

I don't remember burning my legs or anything, but they are on both legs, on my lower thighs towards my knee.  Here is an album with a few pics:  http://picasaweb.google.com/wade.funk/RedSpots

Any thoughts?

Thanks...

I have not done any treatment of any sort thus far.  It has not itched and is only painful if I rub or push on it...which I try not to do:)

I think we're on the road to recovery...thanks again for your prompt responses...

Hi,

Glad the post was of some help to you.

Have you taken any antihistamine medications for your symptoms?

You could apply calamine lotion at the sites to help soothe the lesions.

Let us know about how you are doing and post us if you need any further information.

Regards.

I'm not allergic to anything that I'm aware of.  The largest of the red marks, the one in the picture above, is now blistering.  They have not grown in number or size, but the big one has blistered up.  My neighbor thinks it might be a spider bite...he recently had a brown recluse bit on the inside of his bicep.  I would think the damage would be worse if that were the case though.

I think it's getting better now, but I will let you know for sure in a couple of days...

Thanks for the reply...

Hi,

You should not scratch the lesions as this would cause secondary infection. This could be dermatitis, eczema, allergic reaction or some insect bites.

Are you allergic to any specific substances? Have you taken any medications for the lesions?

You should keep the areas clean, wear cotton socks to avoid sweating, use a powder to keep the areas dry , use calamine lotion at the sites. Oral antihistamine medications would help if the lesions are itchy.

If your symptoms persist it would be best to reconsult your skin specialist because nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
