Sunscreen burns my skin

I am having a really hard time finding a good sunscreen.  Everything I have tried causes my face to have a burning sensation.  It feels exactly as if someone rubbed hot peppers on my face!!!  I also get a ton of TINY bumps all over my skin.  I'd say each bump is smaller than a typical 'goosebump."

Do you have any idea what may be causing this?  Do you have any suggestions of what to look for in a sunscreen? I have tried everything from Clinique City Block to baby sunscreen.  Both my father and grandmother have had skin cancer so I really NEED to find something that doesn't hurt my face!

Thanks!

Thanks for you answer :)

So it is something that can develop?  I have only had this problem the past year or two.  The burning stops after washing with soap and water, and the bumps resolve within 24-48 hours.

Hi,
It seems like you have developed allergic reactions to your sunscreen. The bumps are the manifestation of skin reacting to the allergen.

You need to apply Calamine lotion to soothe the irritated skin and also take anti-histamines for the reaction..

If you don't really find one that suits your skin you need to take other precautions like wearing wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses to protect you face and also wear kong-sleeved dresses when you are out in the sun.

Also avoid exposure to sunlight between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. unless it is an absolute must.
