Thick scabbing under armpit

Hello. I have recently started developing thick scabs under my left armpit. They started out as itchy, with no physical signs of scabbing or anything. Then, almost overnight, a layer of what feel like scabs popped up. And they are very painful to the touch. It has been about two weeks now, and the "scabs" have spread over most of my armpit, gotten thicker, and oddly enough, a smaller scab is popping up under the other armpit which is starting to spread! I have been using the same soap, body wash, and deodorant for several years, with no problems. Also, in the very corner of my left armpit, the first one to get this, there is a small "bubble" of raw skin that is constantly moist due to "puss" always coming out of it... i started using neosporin on it to help curb any infection, but its not doing anything. Please help!

Thank you very much! I tried a few of your suggestions and most of the "rash" has for the most part subsided.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
One possibility for your rash is of intertrigo. An intertrigo is an inflammation (rash) of the body folds. It most commonly occurs due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore.

Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching please take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed. Also then other possibilities like contact dermatitis and bacterial infection also need to be ruled out. In that case a culture sensitivity of the discharge from the scabs can be done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
